gravy are a creative collective who love music, design & media (and want to change the world!) Based in Beverley, East Riding, UK we run all sorts of amazing activities for 11-18s…

A quick history…
The gravy adventure started on the way back from a particularly enjoyable gig at the start of 2009. Faced with an upcoming workshop with MTV:Boom! in Leeds we wanted to create a new branch of our organisation which would exist to give a voice to creative 16-25s who love music, design & media.

Totally created, organised and disseminated by teens and twenty somethings gravy has gone from strength-to-strength with evenings of live music, training sessions in videoing, editing, presenting, and creating videos for organisations all over the UK (as well as our own group enjoyment).

Branching out gravy has discovered some superb talent – with some of our musicians and video creators up for Nationally Recognised Awards and going on to work with well established studios.

We meet most weeks at various times for video production, have regular youth groups that meet in association with Beverley Baptist Church & St. Nicholas Church and have occasional live@theLOFT event where we showcase some of the best things that gravy has to offer.

Achievements

  • Featured in the Baptist Times, Beverley Guardian, Beverley Advertiser, Hull & East Riding Daily Mail, BBC Radio Humberside, JAM Magazine, Urban Saints News.
  • Ran a Film School for 60 young people in October Half Term 2010
  • Screened two movie showings of Beverleyhem (an original 30 minute movie) to over 300 special guests at Cineworld, Kingswood nr. Hull.
  • Runner-Up for ‘Best Movie Soundtrack’ in MTV:Boom! Awards 2009.
  • Showcased in London’s Apple Store in 2009.
  • Kimi Smith and Andy Guilder complete MTV:Boom! Training in Leeds.

People
Gravy was founded by Andy Guilder with help from Kimi Smith, Ed Hawken and Daniel Shiells (who became our industry mentor). Alumni include, Rosy Banbury, Lucy Machon, Abbie Taylor, Kate Jeffery, Nathan Connell, Henry Leslie, Beckye McNamara and Katie-Lianne Costello.
