On an inclement, and yet sunny weekend in July a bakers dozen attendedour second Filey Weekend (this time for School Years 9+). It was a pirate andninja themed affair with games ranging from saving cuddly toys fromincoming tides, to building boats and cooking meals (which weresurprisingly tasty).Evenings were spent drinking hot chocolate, chatting andplaying Uno (as well as getting the odd bit of sleep!).
As ever the location was fantastic and we had the best and worst of theweather, witnessing/walking through an awesome storm! We still got in the sea though and also spent time in the town itself. The Methodist church where we stay has an “indoor camping” atmosphere about it.
The teaching over the weekend looked at hopes and dreams basedaround the story of Joseph and through Psalm 139. Each of us created adreams board and thought through our passions, hopes and the futures that God has for us.
A HUGE thanks goes out to Jan and Jono Fowler who came along andhelped us. Thanks also to those who were praying for us whilst we were away. We all had a fabulous, safe, relaxed and enjoyable weekend!
